Chrysippus · Philosophy
Why the ancients said: without Chrysippus, no Stoa.
Chrysippus was the third head of the Stoa who systematised Stoicism so thoroughly that the ancients said ‘but for Chrysippus, there had been no Stoa.’ A logician of legendary power, he wrote over 700 books and defended Stoic determinism, providence, and the unity of virtue against every rival.
Leads to Zeno of Citium.
